Diabetes is a long-lasting condition that affects your body's ability to make insulin. Insulin allows sugar in your blood to be utilized by your body. Diabetes stops insulin from being created at the appropriate levels, so too much blood sugar ends up remaining in the bloodstream without getting absorbed by body organs. Too much sugar in the bloodstream can lead to several further health complications such as heart disease, kidney disease, and vision loss. These further complications because of diabetes are why it is so important to manage diabetes through education and support. There is no cure for diabetes, but lifestyle changes and dietary changes can help to prevent further complications.
There are two types of Diabetes: Type 1: A condition diagnosed in children, teens, and young adults. It is caused by internal bodily complications at birth and development. Type 2: The most common form of Diabetes (95 percent of people with diabetes are type 2). Diagnosed in adulthood due to high levels of sugar in the bloodstream and insulin complications.
